A brief history by the owner,

Marie-Paule Houle

My husband retired during the year of 1995 after an active career as Mechanical Supervisor that debuted in 1969. Previously he worked as machinist since 1959, after completing his studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering Technician.

I began to work as Store clerck in 1981 for a variety store then I worked ten years as Office Secretary Receptionist for a Chiropractor before I retired in October 2004

In August 1996, 3 months after his retirement, my husband decided to build a woodworking shop and to design a 3-axis computer-aided engraving machine. Once the shop was built and equipped, the engraving machine constructed, it was time to put his new talents to the test.

I raised three children. At the occasion when the time permited it I made for our children numerous projects which involved drawing and painting on many different medias including wood.

Years ago, we started an Arts & Crafts woodworking and handpainting artisan shop. Our product sometime is inspired by what we may find interesting around us. Most of the pieces are our own designs and are original. Lot of them are one of a kind, unique, since all is done by hand one by one, charming, rustique, elegant and decorative. Most can be seen in this on line store.

In the wake of success, I started the company "Marie Déco" then I registered it during the Summer 2001.

Woodworking and handpainting now provide us with great pleasure and satisfaction. It is always wonderful to see what may come out of raw wood and how beautifully it can be transformed into any shape and even an expression .

Our goal is to share this success with all of you and embellish your lives and hopefully help you bear the burden of all those responsibilities in your lives.
